The Graduation

Today is finally the day of the highlight of my trip - my sister's graduation. This post is purely prepared by her. I figured out she earned this honour. My sis, Meihua who graduated from University of Cambridge who is proudly a BA now. *applause*

The day started off in a havoc. Hearing panicking shoutouts, which started from "Have you packed this up?", "put this in this bag, not the other one!" to "I'm late! Haven't bathe yet!". "Where's my blouse, my heels and gown!" - all because I was too engrossed in my packing (we had to leave Cambridge the next day of the graduation) and was nearly late for the ceremony.

The whole thing started off with all the Newnham graduating ladies marching from the college to the Senate House (where the ceremony will be held at). I complained about my feet hurting from heels, which my brother ignored, not knowing he will bear the consequence of it not too long from that moment (more about that later). The march which started at 9.20am, took around 20 minutes.

By the time the ladies arrived at the House, all the guests, including my family, are already seated. No photos are allowed to be taken in the House, but my bro managed to sneak his camera out to take a few shots before the ceremony started. The ceremony was conducted in a very formally way, so formal that it gave bro goosebumps a few times.

After the ladies marched into the House, the ceremony started off with the master saying a bunch of latin (the whole ceremony is practically in latin, so my family don't understand a word of it. However, I did explain it to me afterwards. Everything basically means "you are worthy of this degree that I award you today".) After the master of the ceremony's speech, the ladies who waited at the end of the hall walked forward in 4s, each held a finger of the assistant master, waited for the assistant to take off her hat, say some latin (again!), put back on her hat, and then the ladies will walked up to the their headmistress, one by one. The headmistress is seated, which then the ladies would kneel down on their knees and hold up their palms. The headmistress would then clasp their palms in hers, say (you guess it. Yes, latin!) some latin, and the ladies would stand up and bow to her. That's the whole process.

After all the girls have their chance with the headmistress, all families proceeded to the lawn outside the Senate House for pictures taking.

Note from JY : Notice the lady from the second left? She is one of the partners for PwC Hong Kong. And my sister knows her. *bangs my head on wall*

Oh yeah! Before I forget, I mentioned in front that my bro would bear the consequences of ignoring my complain about my heels so take a look at this. Could you guess what happen?

Finally one of us graduated (one side of my parents shoulder is lighter now). And now what's left is me. Every eyes is watching on me. No disappointment is expected. I will work hard to achieve my goals. Cheers!

Paris (France) Day 12

We started our day fairly late today - 12pm to be exact, because the check out time was at 12pm. We had only one aim today - to visit the Notre Dame cathedral. This place caught my interest because it is the exact place where the creator of the animation Hunchback of Notre Dame based his story background. The cathedral is where the bad guy - Claude Frollo confined the hunchback - Quasimodo as well.

In the beginning, we mistaken the building below as the Notre Dame cathedral. But turned out it was the St. Michael fountain. But heck, there was still lots of tourists gathering around and snapping photos for future memories.

After a few shots with the St. Michael fountain, we went looking for directions to Notre Dame. I mentioned earlier that this cathedral is the same as the Hunchback of Notre Dame, therefore my sister walked around the cathedral to look for the clock tower that the hunchback was confined in.

Compare with the one below,

did you managed to see any similarities? :)

The Notre Dame is a beautiful place to visit and it holds a meaningful stories within it as well. But the 'couple' below totally disgrace Notre Dame. Although the picture below only show they were kissing, before I took a picture of them, they were touching and rubbing all around. There were a group of children nearby who were on trip, mind you. They are so NOT ready to be expose to the ugly side of Biology yet, please.

Before heading to the airport, sister and I wanted to try out the French cuisine in Paris. On the other hand, mom and aunt were craving for chinese food which they missed a lot, therefore we went on seperate ways.

Am back in Cambridge and will be attending my sister's graduation this coming saturday. Before Paris comes to an end, pictures of hot chicks and chucks is a must right? It will be like having a fork with no knife if I didn't do so.

Okay, I know the pictures above will make some have a misconception but it is NOT as you think it is. I was trying to take a photo of a standing-still chick to prevent motion blur. She was the only one nearby. COINCIDENTALLY, the way she pose was indeed nose-bleeding. (Take note : I'm mentioning the one in front, not the one behind)

Still choose not to believe me? Maybe both the photos below will prove that I was speaking nothing but the truth. Ladies, pictures below are dedicated for all of you. Warning : wtfbbq smoking hot guys ahead.

Isn't he cute, ladies? Haha! Too young la, please!

I was only joking with the one above. Can you tell? But I still think he is cute though. Undeniable. But is this the hotter one? Ladies, you tell me.
